SUEÑO SCHOLARSHIP
The Sueños Scholarship was founded in the Fall of 2022. It serves as a lifeline for students who are facing financial hardships but still have the drive to pursue higher education. It is designed specifically for disadvantaged students who need financial aid and resources to achieve their dreams. With this scholarship, DREAMER students can focus on their studies without worrying about the financial burden of tuition fees, books, and other expenses.
Ultimately, the mission of this scholarship is to help individuals realize their full potential and achieve their academic and career goals, regardless of their financial circumstances.

Dream big with Sueños Scholarship
Impact
The Sueños Scholarship provides a pathway for disadvantaged students to access higher education and improve their future prospects. Financial difficulties are one of the biggest barriers that prevent many students from pursuing their academic aspirations.
The high cost of college can often lead to students dropping out, taking on crippling debt, or never even considering higher education as a viable option.
By providing financial aid and resources, the Sueños Scholarship helps to remove this barrier and opens up opportunities for students who may not have otherwise been able to pursue their dreams.
Overall, the Sueños Scholarship is important because it helps to create a more equitable society where everyone has the chance to succeed regardless of their economic background.
Scholarship Application Requirements
- Academic Achievement: Proof of academic excellence, such as high standardized test scores, GPA, AP courses.

I migrated to the United States from Colombia at the age of four with my older sister and parents. Growing up wasn’t easy. My parents divorced when I was seven years old which led to a lot of traumas. My mother left back to Colombia when I was thirteen years old. My father had to raise three daughters on his own, but because we were undocumented, he had to work a lot to make ends meet. As I got older, I knew I wanted to make a difference because growing up undocumented affected my life in a tremendous way. I am now a single mother, working multiple jobs to be able to pay for school, live a comfortable life and provide for my daughter. I currently have an Associates in Economics and will be continuing my education to get a bachelors degree. Not having many financial resources because I am a Dreamer has inspired me to create this scholarship. I want to continue to be an advocate for immigrants. I want to awaken people’s dreams that no matter where you come from and all the adversities you had to face you can still make a change in this world. I am a DREAMER and I believe that with God anything is possible.

I am a proud dreamer, husband, and father of two. I came to the U.S. at the age of two and grew up in Chicago. After starting my education in Chicago Public Schools, my family moved to the suburbs, but I returned to Chicago during my junior year of high school when DACA was enacted. I was fortunate to meet the program’s criteria and started working at the McCormick YMCA. I paid for my first two years of college out of pocket since grants were not available to undocumented scholars. Later, I earned my associate’s degree and found TheDream.US scholarship, which covered my last two years of college. Balancing work, school, my DJ business, and family responsibilities, I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in December 2020. Now, as the Director of Community Affairs and Advocacy for a prominent K-12 Charter network in Chicago, I am privileged to serve the Latino and undocumented community. I share my story to inspire others not to give up on their dreams and to pursue education. I believe everyone deserves the right to continue their education, regardless of legal status. I am excited to be a part of the Suenos Scholarship and look forward to the impact it will make. I believe dreams can become a reality, and regardless of legal status, it is possible to achieve the American dream.
